Liliane and Christoph
The association "Sicher Lernen - Bagam" (Safe Learning – Bagam) was founded in 2022 as a non-profit association by us Liliane and Christoph Ach.
I (Liliane), have lived in Germany since 2001, but originally come from Bagam in Cameroon. My heart's desire has always been to improve the school which I attended as a child and which was not in good condition even then. Now it is time to realise this goal with this association.
I, Christoph, have been married to Liliane since 2012. Since our first trip to Cameroon, where I got to know her former school, I have supported her wish to give the school a better image. The idea of founding the association came from me after we had searched in vain for a few years for an organisation that could take over the project completely. We are aware that it is a lot of work, but we are burning for it and are happy to take on the challenge.

I am Cameroonian and, like Liliane, I come from Bagam. When she told me about the association, I was immediately hooked. As an educator of children with disabilities, I am particularly interested in the welfare of children in my home country. That is why I joined the association a month after it was founded. I am looking forward to this journey with the team.

What I really appreciate about Germany is that we have access to education without much effort. This includes safe school buildings as well as good teachers, functioning sanitary facilities, sports facilities, literature and much more.
What we take for granted is not a given in many places in the world.
What serves as a school in Bagam would not even be suitable as a pigsty in our country. Nevertheless, the children go there every day and try to learn to read and write, almost unprotected from the weather.
The association "Safe Learning - Bagam" wants to change this situation and provide a humane learning environment.
